Zimbabwe’s Gold Production Sees Significant 22.6% YoY Growth in August: State Media
Zimbabwe's gold production reached 4,189 tonnes. The growth was largely fueled by artisanal and small-scale miners, who contributed 3,249 tonnes—a 36% jump compared to the same period last year.
In the first eight months of 2025, total gold production reached 28,498 tonnes, positioning Zimbabwe to exceed its 40-tonne target for the year.
Key factors driving the surge in gold production include:
🟠 high global gold prices;
🟠 increased confidence in formal gold channels;
🟠 reduction in illicit trade;
🟠 boost to foreign currency reserves.
The country's gold exports surged by 60.5% year-on-year, reaching $1.4 billion as of August 2025.
