Zanzibar Tourism Soars with 45.9% Visitor Surge in August
The region in Tanzania welcomed 105,506 international visitors — a sharp jump from the same month last year and a 7.3% rise compared to July.
🟣Europe dominated arrivals (61.5%), with Italy (15.6%) and the UK (7.7%) leading the pack.
🟣Kenya surged with a 78.9% year-on-year increase, while South Africa dropped 35.7% but remained the #2 African market.
🟣Air travel accounted for 90% of entries, mostly via international flights.
🟣Leisure tourism drove the boom, with 99.2% visiting for holidays.
🟣Visitors stayed an average of 8.2 days, filling hotels to an 88.5% occupancy rate.
🟣The majority were working-age travelers (86.3%), while families and retirees made up the rest.
