Russia Increases Export of Halal Products, Eyes African Markets: Halal Certification Center
"We have accreditation in all the countries of the Persian Gulf, in Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Morocco, South Africa," General Director of the International Center for Standardization and Certification "Halal" under the Russian Spiritual Administration of Muslims Aidar Gazizov told Sputnik.
The center is also working to gain accreditation in Indonesia, Algeria, and other countries to facilitate Russian halal exports worldwide, he noted.
Gazizov noted that official statistics show Russia's halal product exports grew 38% over six years, with exports reaching $380 million last year alone, an 82% increase compared to 2023.
"About 25% of the population of our planet, which is about 2 billion people, adheres to Islam. The volume of the global halal market of goods and services is estimated today at 2 trillion dollars. And our country has enormous potential in this industry," Gazizov emphasized.
