Mogadishu is Most Secure in Decade, Somali Deputy PM Says
Security incidents have dropped significantly in the country's capital thanks to Somali forces and international partners, while the public has shown "resilience and strength" against terrorism, Salah Ahmed Jama told Turkish media.
Introduction of direct elections based on "one person, one vote" is underway as part of President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s democratization push, with stronger institutions seen as key to investment and improving Somalia’s image, he said.
"Somalia of 2025 is one that is truly emerging in every aspect, from economics to security, from global and international relations to social cohesion," Jama added.
