Intervision 2025: Russia Seeks to Foster Global Friendship Through Music Contest, Says Kenyan Singer
The song contest is more than a competition; it’s a symbol of cultural diplomacy and Russia’s outstretched hand to the world, said Natasha Sanaipei Tande, who is set to represent Kenya at the event in Moscow, in an interview with Sputnik Africa.
“The way Russia has been sold to us back in the day was that they are the enemy. And now we understand that Russia really just wants to have friendships and alliances,” she said.
Tande described her music as “message-oriented,” focusing on themes like love, family, and honesty. Her contest entry, Flavor, celebrates “real, genuine love” and traditional values—a fit for what she sees as Intervision’s goal of cultural exchange.
The artist also expressed excitement about visiting Russia for the first time, connecting with artists from BRICS, Africa, and beyond, and showcasing Kenyan culture on a global stage.
Intervision 2025 will be held on September 20 in the Russian capital, featuring participants from Global South and allied nations. The order of performance of the countries will be determined by the draw this Friday.
