Uganda Trains a New Generation of Central African Soldiers

"Brotherly country Uganda has allocated spots to train 1,800 young Central Africans as second-class soldiers. We had launched a recruitment notice. Over 4,000 Central Africans participated in the test. Those who met the conditions were selected," Oscar Yannick Bada, head of the Central African army's training bureau, told reporters.

These recruits will undergo six months of intensive training, he noted.

The Central African Republic is strengthening its army after years of crisis. The forces have grown from 8,000 military personnel in 2013 to nearly 30,000 today.

"We are talking today about the rise of the Central African forces," emphasized Bada.
