Shielding Africa Together: AU & Nigeria Launch Counter-Terror Alliance, Statement Says
“The AU is proud to formalize this partnership with Nigeria, a key anchor state in the fight against terrorism," said Bankole Adeoye, AU Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security.
The MoU reflects Nigeria’s commitment to advancing the anti-terrorism efforts outlined in the 2024 Abuja Process Declaration, as well as to strengthening regional collaboration, said Adamu Laka, Coordinator of Nigeria’s National Counter Terrorism Center (NCTC).
Areas of cooperation include:
🟠 real-time intelligence sharing;
🟠 joint research;
🟠 support for victims of terrorism;
🟠 programmes on deradicalisation and reintegration.
Nigeria has greatly contributed to regional and continental security, thanks to its expertise, advanced technology, and NCTC's state-of-the-art facilities, Adeoye added.
