Partnership with Russian business can support Africa’s development in areas where Russia has significant expertise and experience, said Nikita Gusakov, Senior Vice President of the Russian Export Center (REC) and Director General of the Export Insurance Agency of Russia (EXIAR).Gusakov emphasized the significant role of African countries in Russian exports of agricultural products (grains, vegetable oils), chemical products (ammonia), and the metallurgical sector. He said that EXIAR, as Russia’s national institution supporting foreign economic activity, offers solutions to mitigate risks and increase Russian investors’ interest in African projects. Among them, investment insurance is key — a tool to protect investments against political risks inevitably arising when operating in a foreign country.

Russian Business Ready to Provide Partnership Support to African Countries, Official Says
While Russia possesses the world’s largest pipeline network and the third-largest railway network, producers are ready to offer Africa technologies, experience, and competencies in developing pipeline and other infrastructure, said the senior vice president of the Russian export center.
Partnership with Russian business can support Africa’s development in areas where Russia has significant expertise and experience, said Nikita Gusakov, Senior Vice President of the Russian Export Center (REC) and Director General of the Export Insurance Agency of Russia (EXIAR).
“African states can count on serious support from the Russian business community. Russia is ready to share its experience and expertise, taking into account the needs of African partners,” Gusakov stated at the Fourth Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF2025) in Algeria.
Gusakov emphasized the significant role of African countries in Russian exports of agricultural products (grains, vegetable oils), chemical products (ammonia), and the metallurgical sector.
“Trade and economic relations are developing most actively with North African countries, primarily Egypt and Algeria. For example, in 2021, a permanent pavilion of Russian agro-industrial products ‘Made in Russia’ opened in Cairo,” he noted.
He said that EXIAR, as Russia’s national institution supporting foreign economic activity, offers solutions to mitigate risks and increase Russian investors’ interest in African projects. Among them, investment insurance is key — a tool to protect investments against political risks inevitably arising when operating in a foreign country.
“By 2030, we would like to celebrate with our African partners infrastructure changes that will not be of local significance only, but will consistently and evenly enable an entire continent to achieve leading positions on the global stage,” Gusakov concluded.
