BRICS Aim to Reinvent Global Governance, Ecuadorian Geopolitics Expert Says
Member countries must work to modernize their agreements, particularly in trade and security, Luis Marchan told Sputnik.
"We need a different kind of trade to reach the vast populations within BRICS—using a real currency and creating a counter-hegemony to the dollar," he said.
According to the expert, international institutions must also adapt to a multipolar world, especially:
🟠the UN;
🟠the Organization of American States;
🟠the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights.
Chinese President Xi Jinping had already proposed a five-point initiative for new global governance during the SCO+ summit.
On September 8, Brazil will host a special virtual BRICS summit to discuss US trade policy.
