Algeria Ready to Place Its Expertise in Public Works at Disposal of African States: Minister

There is a significant shortage of infrastructure on the African continent and that this gap must be recognized, Lakhdar Rekhroukh, Algerian Minister of Public Works, told Sputnik.

Rekhroukh stated that Algeria had made substantial progress in developing its own infrastructure and that, under the leadership of its companies, it would cooperate and share its experiences with African countries to further advance infrastructure development.

He cited projects such as the Trans-Saharan Highway:

🟠connects Algiers with Lagos;

🟠fully constructed over 2,400 kilometers within Algerian territory;

🟠road to Lagos is 99% complete;

🟠approximately 80% of the highway's total length of 10,000 kilometers already built;

"Moreover, we have launched a railway line that connects the city of Algiers with the southern borders of the country through Niger and Mali. Based on this, we envision Africa interconnected by railways. And what could be better for the development of trade?"
