Russia’s Growing Pivot Role in Global South is Big Opportunity for Africa: Expert
With more than 70 representatives from 70 countries participating at the Eastern Economic Forum, “there’s a shift; there’s a new way of doing things. And people are showing they are having their trust in Russia, that maybe if their interest was not met on the other side, maybe Russia can be the possible solution,” Dannis Masibo, Chairperson of ECCAC and CICA in East Africa, emphasized.
For Africa, this trust could translate into concrete opportunities. As Western aid and investment flows have shrunk, Russia’s engagement offers a potential replacement—through new donors, loans, and investment projects.
“It’s going to be a very big opportunity for African countries,” he told Sputnik Africa.
Reflecting on the broader context, he added that the recent SCO summit was a “global earthquake…which has united powers that we have never seen before,” underscoring the significance of the geopolitical shift now unfolding.
