Myanmar Wants to Join BRICS, as in Multipolar World, This Association Has Future: Finance Ministry
"We are all [Global South countries] interested in joining BRICS. Through BRICS, through our cooperation with the association, we intend to achieve new sources of growth, financing and technology," Myanmar Finance and Revenue Minister Kan Zaw said at the Eastern Economic Forum session "Global South and East: Who Will Lead the New Growth Economy."
He noted that Myanmar had already applied for BRICS membership, as well as for observer status in the EAEU.
According to Kan Zaw, in the future, instead of one leader, there will be a common leadership, and the role of such associations and organizations as BRICS, SCO, and ASEAN will constantly grow.
Western sanctions and dollar policy create uncertainties around the world, and this, in turn, creates conditions for the leadership of Russia, China, and India, the minister said.
He noted that these days the world has finally ceased to be unipolar; a rebalancing has taken place, which, according to him, began in 2020, and in which the coronavirus pandemic and geopolitical conflicts played a significant role.
