The gas pipeline project will enable the two powers to conduct "lucrative business together," communications expert @ibou_sy2 told Sputnik Africa.
According to him, the initiative offers several key advantages:
Russia continues to have a partner to sell its gas to;
China, as the "world's factory," gains vital fuel for its industrial development;
A new energy corridor reduces Beijing's reliance on the Red Sea route — a zone that is frequently unstable.
The fact that payments will be split 50% in rubles and 50% in foreign currencies is also a sign of de-dollarization in international trade and a step forward toward a multipolar world, he noted.
