Tanzania Begins Producing Drones Locally to Boost Farmers' Efficiency, Reports Say
Tanzanian-made drones will cost from $6,800, making them more affordable than imported models, said David Mulokozi, CEO of a local company that invested in the initiative.
The drones will be used for spraying pesticides on fields, measuring land areas, planting seeds, transporting goods, and more, according to the company's CEO.
The drones will:
🟠spray one hectare in just seven minutes, making the process much faster;
🟠help farmers reduce costs compared to traditional spraying methods;
🟠protect farmers’ health by reducing exposure to harmful chemicals;
🟠create jobs through local production;
🟠promote technology transfer and training opportunities.
"We are continuing discussions with various banks so that they can provide farmers with loans to acquire these drones to enhance their agricultural activities," local media quoted Mulokozi as saying.
