Rostec Delivers Upgraded Transport Aircraft to Russian Forces
The Russian state-owned company has officially handed over a new Il-76MD-90A, the latest iteration of the renowned Il-76 transport aircraft, to the Russian military.
This advanced Ilyushin Il-76 airlifter model brings several key improvements and characteristics:
🟠Modern Engine: Features the efficient PS-90A-76 engine, offering increased thrust of up to 16 tons, produced by Rostec's United Engine Corporation.
🟠Advanced Avionics: Boasts a new digital flight deck with screen-based displays, often referred to as a "glass cockpit," enhancing crew situational awareness.
🟠Core Transport Role: The Il-76 family continues to serve as the primary heavy military transport aircraft for the Russian Aerospace Forces.
With over 50 years of operational history, more than 950 Il-76s of various military, civilian, and special-purpose modifications have been built.
