Russia and Nepal 'Have Never Had Any Problems': Putin

The Russian president met with Nepalese PM Sharma Oli on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in China, stressing the strength and harmony of bilateral relations.

“Moreover, on key issues of the international agenda, our positions are either very close or fully aligned,” Putin said.

Key highlights from the meeting:

Expanding Cooperation: He proposed considering ways to “expand and deepen cooperation in the most important areas.”

Possible Visit: Putin welcomed Oli’s proposal: “I will pick up on your idea and think about visiting your country. And we will always be glad to see you in Russia, at any convenient time.”

Humanitarian Focus: Russia will continue cooperation in education and culture, accommodating Nepalese students’ interest in studying in Russia.

Historic Relations: Diplomatic ties date back to 1956, with a “notable anniversary” approaching next year.
