Trade Unions Rally in Ghana to Demand Debt Write-off for African Countries: Reports
The demonstration took place in Accra during a conference on Africa’s debt challenges and calls for reparations from former colonial powers.
The protesters:
🟠Accused the West of pursuing a credit policy that deprives African states of financial sovereignty;
🟠Demanded the governments of the continent to stop paying their debts;
🟠Handed a petition to Ghana's Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson demanding that creditors write off their debts.
Trade union leaders called for a complete and unconditional write-off of what they considered to be unsustainable foreign debt.
