Collaboration is Currency: BRICS+ Fashion Elevates Emerging Designers

Beyond the United States, there is a world that not only embraces but also celebrates Black and Brown creatives, said Nichole M. Bess, CEO & Founder of Noir Fashion Week, on the sidelines of the BRICS+ Fashion Summit in Moscow.

She explained that Noir Fashion Week was founded to support BIPOC designers who had often been excluded from major industry platforms and lacked the right business infrastructure. Now in its eighth season, Noir continues to advance their presence on the world stage.

Speaking to Sputnik Africa, Bess noted she had never felt so “respected, loved, and seen” as she did at the summit, underscoring her belief that “collaboration is currency.” She praised the summit’s hospitality, organization, and commitment to creating opportunities for emerging designers.

Her message to skeptics back home: don’t underestimate Moscow. The city, she said, is not only beautiful, but filled with warmth and people who make you feel truly welcome.
