Security Starts at Home: African Countries Must Secure Themselves First for Continental Peace, Ex-Nigerian FM Says

While over 1,000 rebel groups threaten peace in Africa, Nigeria, by strengthening its own security, has become a key player in promoting stability in West Africa and across the continent, Ibrahim Gambari stated at the African Chiefs of Defense Summit in Abuja.

What should African countries do to guarantee their security?

🟠strengthen defense industries;

🟠design a homegrown security architecture.

The Nigerian military is making steady progress in its anti-terrorism efforts, recently eliminating 35 militants on the Cameroon border and rescuing 76 kidnapping victims from criminal gangs.
