Rolling Toward Future: Ethiopia Eyes Hosting Grand Skate Tour, Skater Says
The Grand Skate Tour (GST) 2025 held in Moscow is "a major platform for African skaters to gain visibility," Abenezer Temesgen, an Ethiopian participant in the event, told Sputnik Africa.
While training opportunities in Africa remain limited, progress is underway:
🟠Skate parks are being built across Africa, helping athletes improve steadily.
🟠Ethiopia has constructed "Africa's largest skate park," marking a major milestone.
🟠For the first time, Ethiopia was represented by a team of eight skaters at the GST — before, only pairs participated.
This year, the Ethiopian team's goal was not only to succeed in the GST, but also to discuss when and how the festival might be hosted in Africa, specifically in Ethiopia, he noted.
