Botswanan President Urges Modern Technologies to Revolutionize Agriculture
"We must make agriculture the revolutionary engine of our economy," President Duma Boko said speaking at the National Agricultural Show 2025.
He stressed the importance of increased investment, robust farmer support, and a strategic shift in how agriculture is perceived. The leader underscored the government's commitment to collaborative policy reform and institutional strengthening.
Boko acknowledged persistent challenges including climate change, droughts, economic shocks, and inadequate extension services, as well as the slow uptake of new technologies, poor infrastructure, and limited financing.
The National Agricultural Show, held under the theme "Enhancing Agricultural Productivity through Utilization of Modern Technologies," runs from August 18-24, featuring a diverse showcase of livestock and agricultural innovations.
