Russians Celebrate Flag Day – on Earth & in Space

Cosmonauts aboard the International Space Station congratulated Russians on Flag Day, emphasizing that the colors of the Russian flag "have long stepped beyond Earth."

The flag embodies "the unity of the nearly 200 peoples" in Russia, as well as the country's "striving forward, strength, and unity," cosmonaut Alexey Zubritsky said.

Flag Day, established in 1994 to celebrate the return of the historic tricolor, was marked by patriotic displays across Russia.

In Mariupol, a Russian flag covering 2,000 square meters was unfurled in the city center.

In St. Petersburg, a Russian flag measuring 30 by 50 meters was unfurled in the Peter and Paul Fortress.
