Five More Bodies Recovered at Suspected Kenyan Cult Site
Authorities exhumed the bodies from shallow graves in Kilifi County, near the site where hundreds of cult victims were discovered two years ago.
Josephat Biwott, Kilifi County Commissioner, confirmed the recovery of five remains from four graves, with excavations ongoing at 27 locations, according to media reports.
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions believes the victims may have been "starved and suffocated as a result of adopting and promoting extreme religious ideologies," with 11 suspects currently under investigation.
The discovery follows concerns from local residents about missing children.
This new recovery comes after a shocking discovery in 2023 when over 400 bodies were exhumed from the nearby Shakahola Forest. Those victims were followers of self-proclaimed pastor Paul Mackenzie, who allegedly instructed them to starve themselves to "meet Jesus."
