Three Huge Statues Raised From Seabed off Coast of Alexandria in Northern Egypt: Tourism Ministry
The findings include:
🟠a quartz statue in the shape of a sphinx with a cartouche (name frame) of Pharaoh Ramses II,
🟠a granite statue of an unidentified figure from the Ptolemaic dynasty,
🟠a white marble statue of a representative of the ancient Roman nobility.
This is the first time in 25 years that Egyptian authorities have raised artifacts from the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Mohamed Ismail Khaled noted.
