Ethiopia Launches Construction of 144km Mieso-Dire Dawa Expressway
Funded by a $443 million World Bank loan, the expressway, according to Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh:
is scheduled to be complete in four years,
will connect two regions and Dire Dawa,
↖will boost economic and social interactions, creating market opportunities,
↘will reduce transport time and costs from the port to central Ethiopia, as the eastern corridor serves as a major trade route,
will further streamline transportation and enhance market competitiveness when integrated with the railway.
