Russia Ready to Support Ethiopia's Accession to WTO by Providing Technical & Advisory Assistance
The announcement followed a videoconference meeting between Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov and Ethiopian Minister of Trade and Regional Integration Kassahun Gofe Balami.
Reshetnikov highlighted the growing trade volume between Russia and Ethiopia, noting a 2.2-fold increase in the first six months of 2025, reaching $191.2 million. He specifically pointed to a significant increase in Russian imports from Ethiopia, driven mainly by coffee supplies.
The parties also discussed preparations for the upcoming meeting of the intergovernmental commission on economic, scientific and technical cooperation and trade, scheduled for November, and agreed to host a bilateral business forum alongside the event.
According to Reshetnikov, Russian manufacturers could share information on goods in demand in Ethiopia, such as:
🟠grain,
🟠fertilizers,
🟠agricultural machinery.
While Ethiopian companies could showcase their potential and establish direct connections with potential importers, he suggested.
