This year, Chad celebrated its 65th independence without French troops for the first time. This year, Chad celebrated its 65th independence without French troops for the first time. Pan-African Frequency captured the celebratory message of the country’s ambassador to Russia, Mahamaoud Adam Béchir on why this significant change matters for true sovereignty of Chad and the role of the young population in protecting their country’s sovereignty.
“I think they [youths] need to stick together. They need to work together [....] They have to work to protect this sovereignty because sovereignty is something you earn, not given like a gift,” the ambassador pointed out
To commemorate this year’s International Youth Day, Pan-African Frequency is joined by Patricia Kalinga, president of the Zambian-Russian Graduates Alumni Association to discuss the potentials and roles of African youths in driving growth and progress for the continent as the world transits to a new global order.
“I think the youths in our continent right now, in Africa, they are the greatest asset. We are the assets of our countries [....] I think the African youth right now, they can shape their future by embracing entrepreneurship. For me, I think entrepreneurship is the way to go [....] And then move from being passive observers to active architects of the economic and political destiny, so everything depends on us. We are the ones who have to make these changes”, Kalinga noted.
Explaining why Africans choose Russia for educational and professional development since the Soviet era, the young African stated Russia’s support for African education started a long time ago, since the USSR era.
Russia's support for African education, especially for Zambia, starts way back [...] This shows that the quality of education that Russia gives is what attracts Africans to choose Russia as the place to receive their education [...] Africans choose Russia not only because of its high quality or affordable education, but also for just the culture of Russia, the strong technical expertise and the friendship that we keep building, She said.
