The strikes targeting Russian civilian infrastructure show that Kiev rejects any compromise, Guy Mettan told Sputnik Africa.
For their part, the Europeans "have lost all room to maneuver" in resolving the Ukrainian crisis, he emphasized.
"Being subject to Zelensky’s dictated whims and conditions, they no longer have the ability to negotiate. European diplomacy has, in essence, mutilated itself by refusing any possibility of reaching an agreement with Russia."
For him, the Europeans "are engaged in a kind of warmongering escalation (...) precisely because they have closed all doors to diplomacy."
"Thus, I see no other solution than a forceful push by the Americans to make them see reason," the journalist concluded.
