The summit shows that Washington has "accepted Russia’s victory in Ukraine conflict,” Dr. Hriday Sarma, international affairs and energy geo-economics expert, told Sputnik.

Russia remains essential to any credible peace process;
With Ukraine absent, the decisive dialogue is taking place directly between Moscow and Washington;
Russia continues to play a pivotal role in world affairs, especially in the oil and gas markets;
Efforts by the West to isolate Russia have proven unsuccessful.
