14:56 16.08.2025 (Updated: 15:09 16.08.2025) Namibia Pledges More Investment Through Partnerships for Water Security
The country will boost investment and pursue public-private partnerships to address water and sanitation challenges, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Land Reform Inge Zaamwani-Kamwi said at the Africa Water Investment Summit in Cape Town.
"We are one of the driest countries in sub-Saharan Africa, and climate change is intensifying our water security challenges," Zaamwani-Kemwi was quoted as saying by the media. "Yet, we are determined to turn these challenges into opportunities – opportunities for innovation, partnerships."
She reportedly noted that 5% of the national budget is allocated to water projects and announced a $2.5 million feasibility study with South Africa on the Noordoewer-Vioolsdrift Dam.
