Trump–Putin Summit: 'Symbol of Shared Vision, Shared Desire for Peace'
The Alaska meeting marks a willingness to cooperate, a break with past tensions, and the opening of a way to strategic dialogue between Russia and the United States, Burkinabe political analyst Lianhoue Imhotep Bayala told Sputnik Africa.
The analyst pointed to Europe’s inability to influence this process:
“This is happening without the Europeans, who proved incapable and irresponsible throughout the Ukrainian conflict,” Bayala said. He stressed that Europe, seeking military sovereignty but under NATO’s tutelage, risks being reduced to mere “posturing” with no impact in the face of Russian-American determination.
The expert anticipates attempts to obstruct this rapprochement but remained confident: “There will clearly be some sabotage attempts, but what can these acts achieve against such strong resolve?”

A Symbol of Brotherhood and Mutual Respect

According to Bayala, the fact that the two presidents shared the same car was “a sign of greatness, respect, and common purpose.”
“It’s true, that image must have displeased certain Westerners. But they can only blame their own pride and arrogance, because today we don’t need such attitudes to build a world of peace,” Bayala asserted.

Alaska Summit: Europeans Must Admit They Are Now 'the Periphery of the World'

The meeting between Trump and Putin in Alaska "is a sign and a symbol of peace that the two leaders have just conveyed to the major Western powers, particularly the Europeans, who still desire conflict,” Bayala told Sputnik Africa.
“The United States must be able, as it did today, to move forward without its European partners, in order to pursue only a strategic agenda of high geopolitical importance with its Russian partner,” he asserted.
The analyst contended that Ukraine faces a pivotal opportunity to safeguard its security by embracing Russia’s peace proposal, even in the face of Western opposition.
He sharply criticized Zelensky, accusing him of “holding his people hostage,” and underscored Europe’s vested interests in the conflict.
“The Germans, the French, and to some extent the British, are concerned with what happens in Ukraine so that they can secure their share in the distribution of Ukraine’s rare earths. That is where their true interests lie,” he said.
