Europeans and Ukraine Have Made Every Effort to Prevent the Putin–Trump Meeting: Expert Says
Most European countries — including Germany, France, and the United Kingdom — have been actively campaigning to stand alongside Ukraine in order to prevent the meeting from taking place, international affairs analyst Professor Ayele Bekri told Sputnik Africa.
The EU "cannot ensure that Ukraine defeats Russia by any means. They lack the capacity, they lack the resources, and they lack unity among themselves,” he said.
The expert stressed the following points:
Ukraine is in no position, in any way, to defeat Russia;
BRICS has become an important source of global power;
The emerging world order is multipolar;
This new order is consolidating in a way that will be difficult to reverse.
Commenting on President Putin’s decision to attend the Alaska meeting, Professor Ayele said it demonstrates Russia’s wish to maintain regular, positive, and constructive relations with the United States.
