Israel Strikes Journalists in Gaza: Palestinian Group Appeals to ICC
The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate called on the International Criminal Court to bring to justice those responsible for the murder of five Al Jazeera employees in an Israeli strike in Gaza, Takhsin al-Astal, deputy director of the organization, told Sputnik.
Al Jazeera announced the loss of five employees, including prominent journalist Anas Jamal Al-Sharif, after an attack on their camp near Al-Shifa Hospital overnight.
The Israeli Defense Forces confirmed the strike, labeling the deceased as a "terrorist posing as a journalist." Earlier in July, a committee to protect journalists had raised concerns about threats against him, urging the international community to intervene.
