Mega-Shea Butter Refinery Launches in Nigeria to Attract Investment & Accelerate Development
The new shea butter processing plant in Niger State is set to produce 30,000 tonnes annually (100 tonnes per day), the state's government said in a statement.
Key initiatives boosting Nigeria's shea revolution:
🟠10 million shea trees are to be planted by the Niger State Government, the governor announced.
🟠10,000 hectares of land being prepared to support shea tree growth;
🟠Free land, tax relief, and raw material support offered to agribusiness investors;
🟠Streamlined regulations and infrastructure development to attract more investment
Economic and social impact:
🟠Direct jobs for women and youth, mostly engaged in shea nut collection and processing;
🟠A $1.3 million deal signed between the state's farmland company and a leading agro-processing firm to buy shea nuts directly from local collectors;
🟠Empowering rural communities and adding value locally instead of exporting raw nuts.
