Lots of Westerners Believe That Russia is Haven for Families, Media Executive Says
Margarita Simonyan, editor-in-chief of Rossiya Segodnya, the parent company of Sputnik, stated at the Origins forum in Sevastopol that more people from Western nations have been relocating to Russia in recent years.
"These people do not want to raise their children as transgender, they do not want to be unable to go outside and let their children play on the playground because of the rise in crime due to uncontrolled migration and cuts in law enforcement budgets, the widespread legalization of drugs. You just can’t live normally. So, where can you live normally? You can live normally in Russia," Simonyan said.
The fact that Russia "is in the active phase of conducting the special military operation" does not dissuade people, she stressed.
Simonyan further observed that in the 1990s, the United States was a conservative Christian nation, and discussing topics like homosexuality in schools was prohibited. Today, Simonyan noted, US kindergartens are introducing lessons on non-traditional relationships.
