DRC's President Appoints New Gov't, Including Opposition, Amid Security Crisis in Country's East
The appointments were made to form an inclusive government that ensures efficiency, accountability, and broad national representation, stated presidency spokeswoman Tina Salama.
New cabinet at a glance:
🟠Judith Suminwa Tuluka remains Prime Minister;
🟠54 members: six Vice PMs, 24 ministers, 12 ministers of state, five delegate ministers and six deputy ministers;
🟠Ex-PM Adolphe Muzito of the opposition Unified Lumumbist Party joined as Vice PM in charge of the budget;
In February, Félix Tshisekedi pledged to form a "government of national unity" to tackle the eastern crisis and prevent regional escalation.
This was followed by consultations led by security advisor Desire-Cashmir Kolongele Eberande, involving the ruling coalition, opposition, and civil society.
