RSF Reportedly Killed Over 1,500 in Sudan's Displacement Camp – Far More Than Initial 400 Estimate

The final death toll from the RSF's April 11–14 attack will be significantly higher, a former camp official and member of a death toll investigation committee told a UK newspaper.

Many bodies remain unrecovered in the camp, which is now under RSF control, the official noted. Moreover, at least 2,000 residents are reportedly still missing.

Survivors from the camp — which housed about 500,000 displaced people — faced widespread looting, sexual violence, abductions, and dire living conditions in transit sites, a Doctors Without Borders official said.

This would be the second-largest war crime in the Sudanese conflict, behind only the 2023 ethnic slaughter in West Darfur, where over 10,000 were killed in two months, according to the UN.
