After 40 Years, DRC Renews Bilateral Cooperation With Latin America

A high-level DRC delegation arrived in Montevideo, Uruguay, on Tuesday, marking a significant step in revitalizing relations with Latin America.

The tour aims to:

🟠strengthen bilateral cooperation,

🟠explore strategic partnerships with fast-growing Latin American nations in political, economic, military, and cultural sectors.

Recent developments highlight the growing trend of Africa-Latin America cooperation. These include:

🟠the recent AfriCaribbean Trade Forum in Grenada, where CARICOM Secretary-General Carla Barnett called for a major boost in trade beyond the current under 3% share;

🟠the upcoming Interregional Education Dialogue in Bogotá in November, a key platform for collaboration among CELAC, the African Union, and Europe;

🟠the ALBA-TCP & SADC MoU signed in February, a landmark agreement enhancing cooperation in diverse sectors;

🟠the Africa Showcase Latin America held earlier this year, a tourism campaign promoting African destinations in major South American cities.
