Egypt and Uganda Enhance Water Cooperation and Discuss Nile River Governance
A delegation led by the Egyptian ministers of foreign affairs and water resources met with Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni in Kampala on Tuesday, according to the Egyptian Ministry of Water Resources.
During the meeting, which centered around sustainable water resource management, Egypt emphasized its dedication to international law regarding transboundary waterways and its $100 million financing initiative for Nile Basin development projects.
Joint initiatives reviewed include
🟠 groundwater wells;
🟠 rainwater harvesting;
🟠 flood mitigation;
🟠 aquatic weed control.
A new $6 million memorandum of understanding on integrated water resources management is set to be signed, according to the ministry.
