Conakry has also faced significant material damage, caused by heavy rains that struck it during the night of Wednesday, the government said in a statement.
"Relevant authorities have been instructed to provide necessary assistance to grieving families and displaced persons and to strengthen prevention and emergency response measures," it read.
Showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue until Saturday in most parts of the country, with Conakry and several other cities most affected, the national meteorological agency warned.
"There is a very high risk of flooding in these areas," the agency emphasized.
Heavy rainfall has reportedly hit West Africa this month, leading to flooding in Senegal, Gambia, and Guinea.
