Russian Scientists Invent Country's First Rapid Malaria Test, Human Welfare Watchdog Says
The breakthrough test enables faster diagnosis and response, Russia's Rospotrebnadzor said in a statment.
Key features of the test:
▫capable of detecting all four types of the malaria parasite;
▫delivers results in just 25 minutes with high diagnostic accuracy;
▫can test natural carriers — malaria-carrying mosquitoes;
"This offers new opportunities for controlling the spread of the disease in regions where malaria poses a serious threat," the statement read.
Russia is a malaria-free country, however, imported cases of the disease are registered every year.
