Tanzania's Mega-Boost: Logistics Hub, Industrial Park & SGR Expansion Launched in Coastal Region

President Samia Suluhu Hassan inaugurated three projects in the Kibaha District of the Pwani Region, poised to transform Tanzania into a regional trade and logistics hub, the presidency said.

The projects launched are:

The Kwala inland dry port

🟠Will decongest Dar es Salaam, cut transport costs and time;

🟠Serves landlocked neighbors: DRC, Zambia, Burundi, Rwanda, Malawi;

🟠Boosts competitiveness of Dar es Salaam Port.

SGR electric freight trains going to Dodoma

🟠Part of national strategy to modernize transport;

🟠Government invested about $128.4 million in 1,430 freight wagons;

🟠Reduces road wear, emissions, and logistics costs;

🟠Private sector urged to invest in railway transport.

Kwala Industrial Park groundbreaking

🟠Set to host 200 factories;

🟠Seven already operating, five under construction;

🟠Expected to create 200,000 jobs.
