The Over-Militarization of Europe Could Have Repercussions for Africa, Warns Russian Diplomat
"The risk lies in the uncontrolled transfer and trade of weapons that could be delivered or sold to terrorist groups on the African continent. We know how this is happening now with the lack of control over weapons in Ukrainian territory. This is truly a very concerning phenomenon," Alexey Saltykov, Russian Ambassador to Côte d'Ivoire, told Sputnik Africa.
This over-militarization will not remain confined within Europe's borders, he cautions, drawing a parallel with the Second World War.
"We should remember that before 1939, all the problems that were beginning to emerge in the world were centered on the European continent."
