Liberation Movements Must Drive Africa's Economic Transformation, Says President Mnangagwa
Speaking at a summit of Southern Africa's liberation movement leaders, the Zimbabwean leader emphasized the need for delivering tangible economic progress to African citizens, stating that "production, productivity, and sustainable enterprises must now define our movements."
President Mnangagwa highlighted Zimbabwe's rural transformation model, focusing on borehole drilling and Village Business Units, as well as youth-focused programs in mining and agriculture, which are projected to contribute to a 6% GDP growth this year.
🟠He stressed that the legacy of liberation should now translate into improved livelihoods, including food security, healthcare, education, and access to basic services.
While condemning Western sanctions against Zimbabwe, he noted that both China and Russia have pledged partnerships with Africa based on the continent's identity.
