Russia to Continue Building Partnerships With Africa via Greater Eurasian Partnership
The launch of settlement, exchange, and reinsurance mechanisms, as well as platform infrastructure, discussed at the Kazan BRICS summit and this year's Brazil summit, will be useful for addressing development issues, Aleksandr Pankin said, speaking in South Africa at a G20 meeting.
"Emerging market countries in the Global South are establishing themselves as key sources of growth, industrial development and innovation. These processes are being thwarted by deliberately created obstacles, including unfair competition, suppression of national sovereignty, politically motivated sanctions that threaten the integrity of the world economy and markets," the diplomat said.
ℹ The Greater Eurasian Partnership (GEP), proposed by Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2015, aims to create a space for equal partnership, a polycentric world order, and equitable economic cooperation within Greater Eurasia.
The GEP's foundation rests on the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, ASEAN, and the alignment of the EAEU with China's Belt and Road Initiative, open to participation from all interested states and Eurasian associations.
