Cambodia Attacks Civilian Objects in Thailand With Rocket Launchers, Leaving Killed, Thai MFA Says
BANGKOK (Sputnik) - Earlier on Thursday, there was an escalation of clashes between troops of Cambodia and Thailand on their border, which began with a shootout between ground forces in a disputed area.
Cambodian troops have launched strikes with BM-21 Grad multiple launch rocket systems on civilian targets in Thailand, leaving civilians killed and injured, Thai Foreign ministry spokesman Nikorndej Balankura said on Thursday.
"The Cambodian side launched several strikes with BM-21 multiple rocket launchers on civilian targets in Thailand, including a strike on a local hospital in the border area. There were killed and injured at all civilian targets attacked by Cambodian rocket artillery," the spokesman told a briefing.
At least two civilians died and many others, including pupils of the local school, were injured after a Cambodian strike hit a store at a gas station in Thailand, local media reported.
