Courage, Sacrifice, Resilience: Namibia Unveils Modern Banknotes & Coins Reflecting National Spirit
Namibia's central bank (BoN) has launched upgraded banknotes and coins featuring enhanced security and modern designs.
"The notes and coins we are launching today are designed to meet the needs of a rapidly changing financial landscape," stated President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah.
🪙 Key upgrades:
🟠Symbolic design: represents five key economic sectors (mining, retail, agriculture, manufacturing, tourism), and honors national figures and wildlife;
🟠High-tech banknotes: N$10 & N$20 printed on advanced composite substrate;
🟠Enhanced security: features for even better protection against counterfeiting;
🟠Inclusivity: tactile elements for visually impaired persons;
🟠New coins: lighter, smaller, and more durable.
All previous coins and notes will continue to circulate alongside the new series, the BoN reassured.
