The third round of Russian-Ukrainian negotiations has begun in Istanbul, a Sputnik correspondent reported.After personal meetings between the heads of the delegations and the speech by Turkish Foreign Minister Fidan, the negotiations continued behind closed doors.First Two Rounds: Exchanges and DraftsIn the first round on May 16, both sides agreed to a 1,000-for-1,000 prisoner exchange, completed between May 23–25. Ceasefire draft proposals were also discussed.The second round on June 2 involved exchanging memorandum drafts and continuing swaps of prisoners, wounded soldiers, and bodies. On June 16, Russia returned 6,060 Ukrainian bodies and received 78 Russian bodies. On July 17, Ukraine received another 1,000 bodies, returning 19 more Russians. Additional prisoner exchanges occurred, though numbers weren’t disclosed.Russia's PositionPresident Putin remains committed to a peaceful resolution, according to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov. While Russia is ready to proceed, it prioritizes its interests.
