Namibia Launches 6th National Development Plan and Reports on First 3 Months of Presidential Achievements

President Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has officially launched NDP6 (2025–2030), the final development roadmap toward achieving Vision 2030, while also reporting on key milestones achieved during her first 3 months in office.

NDP6 Key Pillars:

🟠Economic Growth, Transformation & Resilience

🟠Human Development & Community Resilience

🟠Environmental Sustainability

🟠Good Governance & Public Service Delivery

Strategic Goals:

🟢Escape the middle-income trap and become a high-income economy

🟢Expand industrial capacity & job creation

🟢Boost access to affordable development financing

🟢Deliver inclusive growth rooted in equity and youth empowerment

Achievements in First 3 Months:

Inclusive Cabinet Appointed aligned to PAIMI leadership values (Pragmatism, Accountability, Integrity, Meritocracy, Inclusivity)

Strengthened Diplomacy & Trade: Major engagements across Africa, US, India & Commonwealth

Economic Milestone: First African Continental Free Trade Area shipment delivered

Commonwealth Business Summit hosted — first ever outside the UK

Progress Across Key Sectors:

Agriculture: 3,403 hectares cultivated; 1.4M people received drought relief

Youth: N$257M Youth Fund ready by August; 734 internship placements

Education: Free higher & vocational education set for 2026

Health: UHC policy rolled out; 7 new clinics planned; 36 ambulances procured

Creative Industries: 180+ creative jobs from film, music and arts initiatives

Housing: 3,492 units under construction; 1,019 toilets built

Sports: Hosted Region 5 Youth Games, creating 1,600+ jobs

Critical Economic Enablers:

Mining: Local equity & beneficiation policy in progress

Energy: Renewables + nuclear taskforce established

Tourism: 115,000+ visas issued under new system

Transport: Rail, air and road infrastructure upgrades underway

Water: 67 borehole projects, Oshakati Water Plant commissioned

“Let us continue to work together, united by common purpose and a shared vision, to overcome challenges and build a more inclusive, united and prosperous Namibia,” the president concluded.
