Nigerian Police Rescue 31 Kidnapped Victims in Edo and Taraba States

Edo State: 14 freed after fierce gunfight
July 11, 2025: Kidnappers ambushed travelers on Fugar-Agenebode Road, killing two and seizing hostages.
How: A joint police-local security team tracked the criminals to Obe Hill, engaging in a shootout before rescuing 14 survivors.
Taraba State: 17 passengers saved from highway ambush
July 12, 2025: Gunmen attacked a white Toyota bus on the Wukari highway, taking all passengers hostage.
How: Security forces rushed to the scene—kidnappers fled immediately, freeing all 17 passengers unharmed.
"These successful outcomes reflect the reinforced commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to citizen protection and national security," said Police Inspector-General Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.
